“Believe in your infinite potential. Your only limitations are those you set upon yourself.”
Overview
Dalvin is the name of the Director of Cane Creek Country Club, known to be a Mage who wears fabulously exquisite, high fashion - usually of the business suit variety. Outside of that, not a lot is known for sure about him. There are individuals who might know about more than others, but in general, his cards are kept close to his chest, though he's likely to have an ace or two up his sleeve at every given moment.
Friendly and engaging, he's usually pretty open and inviting to people that he comes across, though his motives and intentions sometimes seem a bit unreadable, which sometimes works against him. He's happy to engage in discussion about pretty much any topic, but has a penchant for asking probing questions regarding personality, morality, and the inner workings of what makes people tick.
“The greatest danger for most of us is not that our aim is too high and we miss it, but that it is too low and we reach it.”
Roleplay Hooks (work in progress)
Mage:
An Akashayana in sheep's clothing
Dalvin has long been a fixture in Houston, though his presence often fades into the background for years at a time. His extended absences, spent on study and travels in the farthest corners of the world, have become almost routine. Most recently, Dalvin has kept a deliberate distance from the other Traditions, shrouding himself in mystery and making no contact with the city’s magical community for the last two years. Even as he maintained his polished public persona—a successful, stylish figure in high society—his true self remained buried beneath layers of detachment. He has not been openly hostile, but his silence and aloofness have left an air of uncertainty.
However, the recent storm that hit Houston has changed everything. The strange, unnatural force that swept through the city has drawn Dalvin back into the undercurrents of power and danger that define Houston’s supernatural world. His reemergence in the city’s affairs signals a shift, one that many will not expect. While he has retained his calm, sophisticated facade, the dangers that lurk behind this resurgence are real. He knows that to survive—and to protect what he values—he may need to become his old self again. The city, now more dangerous than ever, demands the return of the man who once thrived in its darkest corners.
Shifter:
Shadow Lord Kin
Dalvin discovered early in his life that he was Kinfolk, though the significance of that connection was a mystery to him at the time. All he knew was that somewhere in his family line, there were ties to werewolves, but what that truly meant remained elusive. Shortly after this revelation, Dalvin Awakened, and his focus shifted entirely to the demanding path of becoming an Akashic monk. The rigors of training, meditation, and discipline consumed him, leaving little room to explore his Kinfolk heritage. For years, his life was dominated by the intricate burdens of his magical awakening, with his connection to the Garou left as a distant curiosity.
It wasn’t until much later, once Dalvin had gained more independence and control over his responsibilities, that he revisited his Kinfolk lineage. Delving into his connection to Gaia, he uncovered the truth—he was Kin to the Shadow Lords. This revelation set him on a new path of research and introspection, as he sought to understand the legacy he had inherited. He spent considerable time learning what being Shadow Lord Kinfolk truly meant, both in general and on a deeply personal level. Recently, Dalvin has reconnected with the local Sept, offering his skills and knowledge as a dedicated Kinfolk. Fortunately, his integration has been smooth, and he has repaid their hospitality with unwavering loyalty and dedication, solidifying his place within the Garou community.
C4:
Director of Cane Creek
Dalvin serves as the enigmatic Director of Cane Creek Country Club, a private haven reserved exclusively for supernaturals. The club has long been established as neutral ground, a place where beings who might otherwise mistrust or oppose each other can meet for discussions, negotiations, or to broker uneasy alliances. Over the years, Dalvin has come and gone, his leadership interrupted by periods of travel, but his influence over the club has never wavered. Despite his absences, he’s always maintained a close watch on its activities, taking a personal interest in the staff and ensuring that the sanctuary's integrity remains intact.
Since his return to Houston during his latest tenure, Dalvin has observed a troubling trend—the club has been perilously underused. The place that once thrived on tense meetings and delicate diplomacy now sits too quiet. Either the various supernatural factions are suddenly working in harmony, with open communication and cooperation, or they’ve retreated into their own corners, divided and isolated, allowing the city’s dangers to go unchecked. Given the current state of Houston, marked by strange storms and growing unrest, Dalvin is fairly certain it’s the latter. The city's fractured alliances could spell disaster, and the club’s neutrality may soon be tested in ways it hasn't been for years.
Solutions:
You got problems? I got... less.
Dalvin has an uncanny ability to figure things out—a gift that sets him apart. He views the world through a lens that allows him to see beyond limitations, piecing together solutions in ways others might overlook. Though he modestly insists it’s nothing special, his track record proves otherwise. Time and again, he resolves issues that stump even the sharpest minds. His depth of experience across so many different facets of life grants him perspectives that few can access, enabling him to connect dots that others can’t even see. If you have a problem with no clear solution, Dalvin is the person to turn to. Chances are, he’ll find a way to fix it.
Working out:
You gotta hit this new gym
Staying fit and active are two of Dalvin's greatest passions, which is why the fitness center at Cane Creek Country Club (C4) remains in pristine condition under his watchful eye. He spares no expense in keeping the facility updated with the latest equipment and cutting-edge technology, ensuring it stays at the forefront of fitness innovation. While trends may come and go, Dalvin knows that, even among supernaturals, the pursuit of physical prowess remains a shared passion for many.
The crown jewel of the fitness center is the Crucible Pyramid—an unforgiving obstacle course designed for only the most determined (or masochistic) individuals. Built next to the main fitness center, this towering monstrosity is a fusion of brutal fitness challenges meant to push even the fittest competitors to their limits. Everyone is welcome to take on the pyramid, but as C4 openly warns, the club takes no responsibility for the inevitable humiliation that comes with the near-certain failure.
Cooperation:
If we could just all work together...
Dalvin has long been a staunch advocate for unity among Houston’s supernatural factions, a belief he has held since his youth. He understands the importance of each group's right to self-determination, but he also recognizes the harsh reality: if they continue to isolate themselves, the entire city remains vulnerable. Dalvin knows that only by working together can they hope to stave off the impending catastrophe. And that doesn't mean death. There are things far worse than death. And they're trying to get into Houston.
Akashayana:
A Wu Lung? Yep. Deal.
There aren't many Akashayana in Houston, so Dalvin hasn’t had to confront the issue often, but the Wu Lung remain the least favored of the Akashic sects. Once considered enemies of the Akashics, the Wu Lung—known as the "Dragon Wizards"—maintain a loose connection to the celestial courts of the Far East, a concept that initially drew Dalvin to them. He’s well aware that his choice of sect has likely colored some perceptions within his Tradition, but Dalvin has always chosen to stay true to himself, pursuing the paths most meaningful to his personal journey. So far, it hasn't been a significant problem—he’s proven himself before and will do so again. However, it certainly complicates matters when new or visiting Akashayana come through Houston, as their preconceptions often weigh against him.
City Secrets:
But they're secrets for a reason
Dalvin knows more city secrets than most could imagine, and he keeps them locked tightly away. If the public had any inkling of what truly lurks in the shadows, chaos would ensue—panic, pandemonium, or worse. There would be those eager to exploit the knowledge, trading favors for power while the world crumbled around them. Sure, the material plane might become a literal hell on earth, but they’d be too busy flaunting their new tricks to care about the destruction. Dalvin has learned the hard way that some things are better left unsaid. He’s lost friends and loved ones because certain truths slipped from his lips, and he has no desire to repeat that tragedy.
As a result, he’s extremely cautious about sharing what he knows. He won’t reveal dangerous truths to anyone who hasn’t already stumbled upon them themselves. Instead, he’ll nudge people in the right direction, offer cryptic clues, and let them connect the dots. But openly giving up the secrets he guards has been a traumatic ordeal, one that invites severe consequences from forces far more powerful than most realize. Dalvin wants the information out there, but he can’t be the one to reveal it—not without risking everything he holds dear.
So if it seems like you're getting on well, but then he shuts down and won't give up the goods, don't worry. Its not you. Its him.
Beauforts:
You forget about the Families?
The "founding supernatural families" of Houston is more of a title than a reality. By their nature, supernaturals constantly exceed expectations and defy limitations, making the concept of dominant family dynasties less powerful than it sounds. These families could, in theory, hold considerable sway if they ever focused their collective strength for any sustained period. But the natural inclinations toward selfish power grabs and indulgence in their own instincts have repeatedly unraveled their plans for control.
The Beauforts, however, have excelled in preventing any one faction from rising too high. From humble beginnings, they amassed what Dalvin calls "mortal magic"—money. And in the modern world, money equals power. The Beauforts have quietly accumulated a vast fortune, allowing them to shape the world in subtle but significant ways, influencing outcomes that might otherwise be unattainable. By changing the world in small increments, they have created massive shifts on an individual level, keeping the balance of power in Houston relatively stable. The real question is how long they can maintain this delicate equilibrium before something disrupts it entirely.
Jack-of-All-Trades:
I know what you know. Kinda.
Dalvin’s been around long enough to have seen it all—he’s traveled to countless places, experienced more than most, and developed an impressive range of knowledge. What sets him apart is his ability to take a small piece of information and extrapolate it into a practical, working understanding of something he technically shouldn’t know. By connecting the dots between related topics, he forms well-founded conclusions, even in areas outside his expertise. His sharp mind, paired with years of experience and discipline, means he remembers most of what he’s encountered, making him an invaluable resource in almost any situation.
This wealth of knowledge doesn’t just make Dalvin useful—it makes him an intriguing conversationalist. Whether someone has a niche interest or an obscure hobby, Dalvin can engage with them in a way few others can. He might not share the same passion, but he’s more than capable of holding his own in a discussion, making him a refreshing conversational partner for those seeking someone to bounce ideas off of. For many, that’s more than enough.
Magic:
Everyone loves a magic trick
He's studied a few spheres and can do some pretty impressive stuff, considering where he's at.
Do:
A fear. A primal fear...
Description
Dalvin cuts a striking figure, a masterclass in sartorial elegance and understated opulence. His suit, crafted from the rare and exquisite Vicuna wool, exudes an almost ethereal softness, the dark grey fabric shimmering subtly under lights. The jacket, tailored to perfection, accentuates his broad shoulders and tapers smoothly down to his narrow waist, where it meets a matching vest that fits like a second skin. Each button on the vest is a small work of art, platinum discs engraved with intricate patterns that catch the light with every movement.
His tie, a deep, regal purple, is flawlessly knotted and adorned with a sleek platinum tie bar that holds it in place just above the vest. A vibrant handkerchief peeks out from his breast pocket, folded with precision into a neat puff, its rich hues of purple and gold complementing the tie and adding a splash of color to the ensemble. On his right lapel, a delicate mandala pin, also in platinum, serves as a subtle nod to his training, the intricate design offering a quiet contrast to the otherwise bold and modern look.
The overcoat draped over his shoulders is a masterpiece of cashmere, its weight and warmth almost palpable. The coat’s inner lining is a riot of color, a swirling vortex of purples and golds that mirrors the cosmic chaos he keeps hidden beneath his composed exterior. Hanging from one of his belt loops is an oversized platinum wallet chain, its links thick and heavy, connecting to another belt loop above the back pocket. The chain sways rhythmically as he walks, adding a touch of juxtaposition to his otherwise polished appearance.
Dalvin’s belt, another piece of fine craftsmanship, features a stylized platinum buckle shaped like a complex geometric design, almost like a sigil, reflecting his deep connection to the arcane. His cufflinks, set with flawless amethysts, glint alongside the black diamond-studded bracelet wrapped around his wrist, both pieces catching the light with every gesture. Every detail of Dalvin’s attire speaks to a man who is not only aware of his power but revels in it, presenting an image that is as enigmatic as it is commanding.
“So many things are possible just as long as you don’t know they’re impossible.”
