Houston Kindred History

Early 1900s – The Rise of the Camarilla in Houston

• 1900-1910s – Houston, a growing oil and shipping hub, sees increased Kindred activity. The Camarilla consolidates power, with Clan Ventrue and Clan Toreador leading the city's Praxis.
• 1917-1919 – The Red Summer sees racial violence and civil unrest, which some Kindred exploit for personal gain. The Brujah, already sympathetic to revolution, gain a foothold in the city.
• 1920s – The Prohibition era fuels a Kindred-controlled underground economy. Giovanni and Setite influences begin creeping in through illicit liquor and drug trades. The Camarilla establishes its first official Elysium.
• 1930s – The Great Depression leads to increased conflict between Anarchs and the Camarilla as resources dwindle. A powerful Brujah Anarch named Iron Jack challenges the ruling Prince but is ultimately destroyed.

Mid-1900s – Camarilla Consolidation

• 1940s (WWII Era) – Houston's industry booms, and Kindred seek control over wartime manufacturing and oil production. The Tremere establish a secure chantry to study advances in human technology.
• 1950s – The Camarilla fully entrenches itself in Houston’s elite society. The Ventrue dominate the energy sector, and the Toreador cultivate high society events. Clan Nosferatu expands its information network beneath the city.
• 1960s – Civil rights movements and counterculture make the city a battleground for ideological clashes among Kindred. The Anarchs attempt to reclaim lost influence, but the Camarilla holds strong. The Tremere and Nosferatu work to keep the Second Inquisition at bay.
• 1970s – Houston's growing urban sprawl leads to increased Lupine threats from encroachment into the wilds. The Gangrel, though aloof from politics, assist in keeping the borders secured.

1980s – The Howard Hughes Conspiracy

• 1980s – The Prince of Houston (name redacted) embraces the reclusive billionaire Howard Hughes, helping him fake his death in 1985. Hughes is placed under the Camarilla's control and used as a financial asset.
• Late 1980s – The Sabbat launches aggressive attacks in Texas, but Houston remains a Camarilla stronghold. An internal power struggle leads to an unknown Prince ascending, later revealed to have fallen to Infernalism.

1993 – The Bayou City Massacre

• October 30-31, 1993 – The Bayou City Massacre: On the eve of Halloween, every major Kindred sect—Camarilla, Sabbat, and Anarch—are purged in a night of fire, blood, and supernatural devastation.
• Aftermath – No Kindred survive. The city is abandoned by the undead. The cause remains a mystery, though rumors of Infernalism and shadowy outside forces persist.

1994 – The Investigation Begins

• September – Archon Ha-Joon of Clan Toreador is sent by Justicar Madame Guil to investigate the massacre. He meets Dr. Helena Markov, a Tremere prodigy, and Roisin, a Gangrel.
• September (Later) – Roisin disappears. Ventrue Elder Sonja Ashton, Brujah Elder Abraham Creed, and Gangrel Elder Samuel arrive to assess the city's future.
• September (Final Weeks) – Investigations reveal that the former Prince fell to Infernalism, converting Kindred to his dark master. The Tal’Mahe’Ra, deeming the city lost, enacted the purge.

1994 – The Midnight Circus & Special Affairs Division (SAD)

• October – The Midnight Circus arrives, bringing further chaos. The former Sheriff, Roisin, is revealed to have fallen to Infernal servitude and is executed.
• After the Circus mysteriously vanishes, Helena is called away to another part of the world.
• Late October – The club of Tabi, a Daughter of Cacophony, is raided by the Special Affairs Division (SAD).
• During This Time – Sonja Ashton is appointed Seneschal.

1994-1995 – War with the Special Affairs Division

• November – A Ventrue, Anya Duchen, is captured by SAD, breaks the Masquerade, and ignites a war between Houston’s Kindred and SAD.
• December – The war escalates. The Country Club Elysium is compromised. Kindred flee to the Prince’s private estate.
• Justicar Madame Guil arrives and demands a resolution.

1995 – The Treaty with the Technocracy

• January – The Camarilla deals a crippling blow to SAD, forcing them to retreat.
• Later January – The Technocracy approaches the Prince, setting the terms for a Treaty, securing Houston’s supernatural secrecy.
