Werewolf/A Thousand Cuts

Summary

The Sam Houston National Forest is in a bad way. The spirit of the forest, a mighty Elk Spirit, became corrupted, and during the efforts to cleanse the once might spirit, it was instead destroyed. Leaving us with a seed, and a dying forest.

Unfortunately a dying forest means, logging and the H.T. Mills & Co. have begun marking the forest trees for culling.

Plot Details So Far

• Week of January 12th, 2025 - The first signs of tresspassing in the forest are discovered. First with littering, and blue spray paint, and eventually with trees marked with blue X's for culling at around 20 acres of older growth trees.
• Week of January 19th, 2025 - The culling area expands from 20 acres, to 200 acres by Monday. The Sept becomes increasingly alarmed and members begin actively investigating the H.T. Mills Corporation, while patrols increase.
• Mid-week, 1/22/25 - The culling area expands and continues. The tagging now covers 400 more acres. The current total is 620 acres marked for culling.
• 1/24/25 Friday - 1000 acres marked for tagging. The outline for an in-road is spray painted on the ground.
• 2/7/25 - In the late hours, or the very early hours, when most of the world is sleeping. The moon spirit Moon Moon ate the world seed in an attempt to save the forest, by becoming the new spiritual guardian for it. Was this successful? We don't know.

IC Rumors

• 1/15/25 - Niall: With the help of Moon Moon, I have found a rather large stash of Blue spraypaint out in the Sam Houston Forest. Not sure where it came from or who planted it, but I have brought it out of the forest and Cleansed it, just incase it was tainted. Someone with a better nose than I may need to go back and check to see if I missed anything.
• 1/18/25 - Niall: The paint mystery has been solved. Someone has marked up twenty acres of the Forest to be cut down! The marking used blue spray paint and was done by two men. We need more patrols in the area. We need to find lawyers and arborist to help get to the bottom of this!
• 1/19/25 - Niall: Seems there was another patrol out in the Forest. This time it seems that the spray paint was there to mark trees for culling. Somewhere in the vacinity of 20 acres of land was marked. We need to find out who's doing it and how to stop them.
• 1/21/25 - Niall: From Twenty to Two Hundred. That's how much of the forest they tagged today. A whole crew of people. Using some weird device to choose which trees are marked or not. I've done a little more digging. I am available to discuss this. This threat is real and could be coming from the City of Houston itself.
• 1/21/25 - Niall and Tori Investigate the Name of Mills and Co. It is discovered it is H.T. Mills and Co. Which stands for Houston Timber Mills & Co. This company serves the entire state of Texas per its large advertisement in the Yellow Pages.
• 1/22/25 - A team of Gaians plan to enter the Forest Umbral Realm and talk to the spirits that live there. The group will need to convince them to stay and make promises to help protect them. If the spirits flee, the umbral space will become a dead zone. Update: The mission happened and was successful. In attendance were: Meridian, Rue, Lunafreya, Father Abe, Niall, Lenore, Justin, Chance. The Gaians made promise to protect them and remove the threat. The Gafflings are going to hold the Gaians to their promise. The squirrel spirits said they'd stay for 'nuts'.
• 1/22/25 - A group gathers at Luna Lagoon Bar And Grill to discuss the matter. Attending were Meridian, Justin, Chance, Masha, Ryoko, Aidan, Axel & Kira. Among the discussed plans was to gain access to the employee list of the company, and to leverage the contacts of those present to unearth corruption in the apparatus.
